As part of their course, Warsash students spend time aboard superyachts all over the world. Previously, students would take paper-based learning material with them to continue their studies whilst at sea. Providing students with up-to-date printed learning materials was a time-consuming and costly exercise for Warsash. Arranging for the learning material to be collected by students on arrival at specific ports was also a problem.
Warsash wanted a new mobile learning solution that would give students access to high quality and up-to-date learning materials, in any place, at any time.
Following evaluation of the market, Agylia was selected to enable Warsash’s students to consume learning materials via a mobile learning App. Due to the nature of the learning environment, where students can be aboard yachts, only stopping at ports for short periods of time, the mobile learning App gives students the ability to easily access the latest learning and reference materials.
Learning materials can be downloaded whilst a mobile device is connected to Wi-Fi or 4G – the content is then available to consume while offline. In addition to learning material, latest news and content update notifications can be sent directly to the App.
The Agylia mobile learning App has provided Warsash with a the full end-to-end mobile learning solution – one offering a smooth user experience, with an intuitive and attractive learner interface. The App was designed to fully integrate with the Warsash corporate branding. Agylia also provided Warsash with a cloud-based mobile learning platform to centrally manage the targeting and delivery of learning materials and communications to chosen student groups.
“With its modern look and feel, and ease of use, the Agylia mobile learning App is a perfect fit for us,” said Lars Lippuner, Business Development Manager at Warsash. “From an organisational perspective, Agylia will help us reduce both the time and costs involved in producing, updating and distributing paper-based course material. From our students’ perspective, it removes the need to carry large and heavy course material with them whilst they are travelling globally.”
